We're a homeschool family living in town. I'm trying to make my backyard functional. I like getting back to the basics - God, family, clotheslines, sewing, preparedness, home remedies, growing my own healthy organic food, canning, saving seeds, raising chickens (we have the maximum 10 allowed) and frolicking with our 3 rabbits that we've built a new pen for. I like weeds (my chickens eat them) and I like it when wild birds poo in my yard -- now we have Mulberry trees! But best of all, I love spending time planting, weeding, being close to nature, my husband and kids, my 2 dogs, taking pictures of creation, getting my hands dirty, being thankful for all that I have, and enjoying the fruits of my labor. Life is good!

Glad to know you are okay.  I could actually use some dedicated time around the house, maybe I should get to it.

Been homeschooling for 17 years :) I took the picture of my duck in the tub and photoshopped the colors. We've since rehomed all 3 ducks as we live in town and they were quite noisy and messy. I also can only have 10 poultry in city limits an... I'm already maxed out with 10 chickens. :)

@ruthie: In your 17 years of homeschooling did you come across the writer and teacher John Holt, who put out a newsletter for homeschoolers? He also wrote the great book, How Children Fail.

@Groundskeeper: I have never read John Holt's book, but according to the reviews, it appears that we agree on the same things. Even though I graduated from (public) highschool and have some college and military exp, I can honestly say that most of what I know today is self taught.

Paradise is here and now, how well you said it. Is that washtub your piece of art, I mean, you painted it? I'm very happy to see that you are a homeschooler. Too many schools or teachers just get in the way of kids who are ready to speed ahead. IMHO.
