    Now I have a reason to clean the fish bowls. Liquid fertilizer!

Have you had betas for awhile?  We use to have them all the time when the kids were little.  My daughter always had to have a blue one and name it "Blue Whale".  And to have two of them was such fun, to see them puff up and watch each other.  I think we will go get some, fertilizer or not.

@JMTKMS: They are fun.  Did you know they can drown?  They come up for air...it is because their original environment is in really muddy water.  Have you let the beta see himself in a mirror ?

I love my Bettas. We have 4 in each separate bowl. They're in my kitchen window. When I'm at the sink, I can admire their beauty and through the window, I can see my chickens standing on their chicken house. Today, I cleaned their bowls and saved their poo water in a bucket. Then I diluted half with tap water and used it to water the plants in my greenhouse and my houseplants. Figured the fish should earn their keep :)

@ruthie: Good idea!

@Clenram: We would give them a mirror, or just have two and they do the same thing.  I did not know they could drown, how odd for a fish.  I did read that they could live in a hoof print in the mud that filled with water.
