Grow It Forward: Heirloom garden picture
1 of 1

I made this wanted poster one day when I got frustrated with the squirrels in my yard. They chewed up my hammock and tore up some of my bedding plants.

Growing up, my dad would feed the squirrels and he would get frustrated because the blue jays would steal all the peanuts.  He devised a plastic bin with a lid, cut hole in the side and inserted curved pipes so the squirrels could get in and not the birds.  It was really funny one day when we went across the street to the neighbors.  They like to feed the birds and were upset the squirrels were stealing the birdseed.  They rigged a bird feeder th... hung down from their park sized swing set and tied a string to the bottom of it that went to their kitch... window.  Anytime a squirrel shimmied up the swing set legs then shimmied down the chain to the feeder, they would yank the string and send the squirrel flying.  Funny neither one knew till that day that we were fighting opposite animals.  Critters must think people are really funny animals.

@JMTKMS: That is a fun reflection!  My cats keep the squirrels at bay here.
