A rather large space opened for two new trees (Parrotia persica, Ginko biloba 'Saratoga'), and plenty of room left over for shrubs and perennials. The Golden Cypress was not only a burden on space for our site, but had begun to compete with our neighbour's native Garry Oak. New plantings have been selected and placed to avoid future competition, and allow more sight lines from the house with a less dense crowned tree.
