All together I have almost 30 chickens. I have cochins, amercauas, and cuckoo marans. I put 13 cuckoo marans in this tractor, and they have more than enough room. I think I could get 20 to 25 chickens in this tractor.
My son and I are state certified to sell eggs, so we sell some of our eggs. Right now the gurls are paying for 1- 50lb bag of feed each month. Last month they laid almost 17 dz eggs, and I think we ate half of that. LOL I have 2 teenagers in the house, and when their friends come over they can eat some groceries up. I'm out there squeezing the hens for more eggs. LOL
@sabrinasgarden: Haaa squeezing the hens for more eggs! =) Good protein for them! That would be awesome for the hens to pay for their own food - gotta love that! We keep moving the tractor to different parts of the yard every day so the girls have new stuff to eat - weeds & bugs (and they don't kill down any certain part of the yard). I give them some greens from the garden as treats too - its so funny to watch them eat lettuce - they love it! Luckily a 50lb bag of Layena holds the girls for quite some time.
