love to see more about the gutters - what kind did you go with? did you add drainage holes? and what are they fastened into?

Well, Martha Stewart's plan (I read it in the magazine) called for copper gutter... yeah, no, that wasn't happening. So we just picked up some reg. old (aluminum?) gutter from Home Depot. Yes, we drilled holes for drainage. The are connected with chains and they hang from eye hooks fastened to the balcony above my patio. When they are loaded with vines, I get amazing privacy that makes my little patio feel like a room off the house.
