Ms. Cheap & the disposable gloves. Jul 16, 2012
Activity-icon-status

I use disposable gloves when cutting my hot peppers.  But as I tend to be economical, frugal or, shall we say, cheap, I tend to re-use my disposable gloves (not that I have a lost invested in them money-wise).  I suited up with my gloves Saturday for the first step in my salsa-making to cut my peppers.  Not even half-way through,... ...see more

I have done this too and then driven the pepper oils in deeper by washing the pan with hot water.

This remedy is easy: First cover the exposed skin in oil (I use olive oil), then rinse with rubbing ... more »

Oh no!  That burning is the worst and yes, it's always too late by the time it registers :(  It usually happens to me when I'm in a hurry and I think, oh, I'm only cutting one and I'll be really careful... never fails!
I've been waiting on this one. Jul 16, 2012

Yes, LOL, my cats are always under my feet when I am in the garden.  They just do not understand that I am here to see the plants and not them.  :) :)

I love that all of these kitties hang out in the gardens! Wish my Maggie was still around.

Gardening & Canning Jul 13, 2012
Activity-icon-status

Hopefully I will get a lot of gardening done this weekend.  We've had some rain the past couple of days and I haven't been out there.  Hopefully I will get some harvesting done & then move on to canning or preserving what I have harvested.  I really need to clean up the area where the onions & tomatoes where.  My...

That looks like a fun list.  I have only heard of a few of them and have not grown any of them, so I will look forward to seeing what they are like through you! :) Have a great weekend!
JMTKMS replied 10 months ago
OMGosh, did I miss baker creeks sale on seeds?  As if I really need more.  Your list looks good, it will be fun to watch it all grow.  Hope your weekend is going good!  :)

How cute... too funny.  What a great shot, and it looks dark so it makes it even better.  What a character.

It's raining - guess I'll have to clean the kitchen tonight.
PrinceSnow replied 11 months ago
Yes!!! I applaud everyone who gets some rain!
sreece replied 11 months ago
We've been getting more than our share of rain since Sat. when we got almost 4 inches. More expected tonight.
SweetDomesticity replied 11 months ago
Sounds like what I need - on both accounts!  The kitchen's a bit of a disaster because I'm spending all my time out watering!

It's raining - no straight line winds, microburst or downdraft targeted at the garden. It is time to celebrate!!!
JMTKMS replied 11 months ago
Funny, they kept saying sun here, and we would get rain and wind... now finally the sun is shining and making up for being gone....  so hopefully those who need rain, will get a nice, gentle, moderate rain.  :)
SweetDomesticity replied 11 months ago
Good to hear your rain was uneventful; I'm getting to the point where I brace myself when they say rain is heading our way!
PrinceSnow replied 11 months ago
Yes, today I heard crunchy grass. That is VERY unusual around here. We usually can count on something coming in off of the ocean at least once a week. Nothing!
