The lower part of the garden were I have the some beans, watermelons & pumpkins seems to be the main invasion front for the ants.
amaranth3 replied 11 months ago
good to know. I need to try some because even though they haven't wrecked anything yet I know I have a lot of ants in general all throughout the garden so I better do something about them!

Correction, admission error and/or confession ... what I thought was going to be (or was supposed to be) my beautiful Zucchino Rampicante is really a spaghetti squash.
SweetDomesticity replied 11 months ago
Oh no, does that mean you don't have a Zucchino Rampicante afterall, or just mixed up somewhere else?  They are such interesting looking squash.
JMTKMS replied 11 months ago
What is a Zucchino Rampicante?  Summer squash or winter squash?  Spaghetti squash sounds good.  :)

that always seems to happen with volunteers!
SweetDomesticity replied 11 months ago
Nice - I would like to try tomatillos again one of these years.  Last year mine broke off in a storm and this year it just didn't make the final cut.  Salsa Verde, yum!
JMTKMS replied 11 months ago
I have alot of volunteer tomatoes, and I have kept quite a few... I worry too, that they will not produce as well.

Do you plant these to keep the rabbits away?
JMTKMS replied 11 months ago
So fun.  I grew some from seed, but I killed all but one or two.  One is actually going to bloom soon, too.

I finally did some research on the potato "fruits" I photographed the other day. They are NOT a good thing - apparently they affect the growth of the potatoes & need to be removed but it also indicated that by the time the fruits were seen the harvest ha

As for eggplant recipes: I like to just slice them into "fry" shape and roast them with olive oil/salt and pepper. Then you can eat them dipped into mayo and hotsauce. Lol may sound weird but is good. Eggp... more »

Rain Saturday night, all day Sunday, off and on today and predicted for tomorrow. I'm not complaining (or bragging) as so many others desperately need rain but my garden is going to be beyond all control by the time I get back out there.

Mabel and I picked blackberries last night ... she was the designated snake spotter. It is apparent that I'm going to have to clear out the brush/undergrowth around them in the fall - it seems to be choking them out.
