Things still to do

By: zumollc
Mar 06, 2012
I am writing this to keep myself on track and also to hear about everyone's spring preparation.  I still need to reconfigure our grow room to accommodate more plants, finish seeding the eggplant,  and as soon as the ground thaws, I need to build the compost bins at one of our east side lots.  I should stop adding the compost that we are collecting from the 5 local restaurants to our pile so that it can finish sooner than later.

Other things that need to be done...start preparing the beds in the hoop house for transplants, tend to the worms in the worm trench, finish writing the grant for a 30'x96' hoop house, buy irrigation supplies...post more pictures!

I'm sure there is more but those are the things at the top of my mind.

happy growing

You have an interesting "things to do" list.  Over here, I'm still seeding a few different veggies and flowers each day, soon will have to start transplanting, working on some of my artsy projects before I get too involved in the planting outdoors, and am researching UV products to protect outdoor... canvas, metal, and wood paintings.

Tell me more about the "grow room". Please :)

@Clenram:For sure!  Our grow room is a room in the basement that used to flood because someone before us thought it was a good idea to cover an old drain with cement.  Anyway, we striped the room of carpet and some of the wood panelling.  We no have several T5 strip lights, one 4' 4 bulb T5, and one 4' 8 bulb T5 all for seed starting and growing cooler crops when it is extremely warm outside.  We also have a rosey red minnows and pumps for our aquaponics setup.  Some of the room is lined with the TekFoil for insulation and to reflect some of the light.  Hope that gives you a better picture.  The pictures I have posted of seedlings and shelves with seedlings are all from that room.
